Goals cannot be reached alone, and there will always be individuals who want to claim credit for a team’s achievements. I’ve experienced this firsthand.
True leaders are chosen, not just selected and t’s important to identify effective leaders who can guide a team toward success. When assessing a person’s personality, consider how they interact with others, their organization, and whether they keep their word.
I have been working with a district director for five months and admire her support and willingness to answer my questions. Recently, she invited us to dinner in Westchester, NY, where she gifted us John C. Maxwell’s “The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork.” I learned a lot from the book and plan to embody six of the laws. It’s simple and filled with inspiring stories and quotes, such as Magic Johnson’s: “Everybody on a championship team doesn’t get publicity, but everyone can say he or she is a champion.” Another favorite quote, not from the book, is by Jay-Z: “No one will fall because we will be each other’s crutches.”
Currently, my yoga practice focuses on stillness and awareness, which is challenging. I’m lucky to have great teammates at the yoga studio. Recently, my friend Bella motivated us by reminding us to stay centered and not get distracted during class.
As one of many ways to enter the vine pose, I focused on pressing into my back heel, engaging my back leg, and sinking into my front knee. While in the pose, I noticed that the girl next to me was just a couple of inches away from getting her hands together. I whispered to her that she was almost there; all she needed to do was bend down a little more, and she would be able to grab her hands.
In return, the same girl noticed I was having trouble getting into a posture. She whispered in my ear, saying, “You’ve got this.” I smiled at her encouragement and managed to achieve the pose.
In order for me or anyone to reach ull potential in any thing , you need attract people who share the same mindset as you . One person can never become great alone; we are stronger together. Achieving any goal in any chosen endeavor requires teamwork.
